2 disk .AVI films to 1 DVD

I have a two disk .AVI film that I whant to convert to one DVD.
I also whant to add subtitles.
How can I put one after the other (with the subtittles inserted) in one single VIDEO-TS folder to burn a DVD.

Encode each AVI separately and use Sizzle to author the two MPG files into a single VIDEO_TS folder.

What is the quick preset on the ffmpegX 0.0.9p to produce the MPG files that I can after author in Sizzle ?
Remenber I want to add subtittles to the movie.

Use DVD preset, and enable "Decode with mplayer" so as you can add subtitles (by burning them in the movie). Disable "Author as DVD" so as it only creates an MPG file.

Witch one should I use?
Can you or someone else explain me the diferences betwen them?
