I have successfully managed to capture from my Sony TRV320E Via a firewire card using SF Vegas Video Capture, however when I try to print my finished video back to tape I get an error:
"An error occurred while printing a file to the device.Error0x8007001f (message missing)"
Has anyone come accross this error or is there any freeware that will print back to tape?
Thanks in advance

I've never had a problem,...
Are you using Vegas Video or Video Capture to print to tape?
Did you render your project?
I have Vegas Audio and Video Capture, and i can sucessfully print to tape..
Have you tried using the "external monitor" preview option in vegas video?

Thanks for the reply...
I have tried just the capture to print to tape - doesn't Vegas Video just load up the capture program to print to tape?
I have tried both rendered videos and also tried sending a new capture straight back to tape, neither work.
I couldn't get the external monitor preview to work in V.V. -
In vegas video: make sure that in your preferences, under the external monitor tab, you have "OHCI Compliant Divice 1934/DV" for the device and the project format is NTSC DV or PAL DV, whichever one you're using.
if you're sending rendered video, check the recompress edited frames.(try both checked and uncheck to make sure)
Let me know what happens.

I have "OHCI Compliant Divice 1934/DV" selected and PAL DV.
I have just tried selecting/deselecting "recompress edited frames" with no luck.
However I have just noticed in the details section on the External monitor tab:
"This device supports recompression
Hot pluggable device
Device unavailable"
Is this Device Unavailable normal?
Being new to this DV stuff I am assuming that I have my camera in PLAYER mode (not camera) and the video should just appear on the LCD?
Do I have to do anything else to the camera?
Does my camera support writing to tape / External Monitor?
The manual is very vague.
Sorry for the basic questions !!

It's okay, your camera should accept the video, we both have almost the same stuff from the same companies
you must have the camera on VRT mode, and just to make sure, check that the option (on your camera) "A/V -> DV out" is off.
-
Mmmm!!
I have checked every option in my menus (on the camera) but I don't have a "A/V -> DV out" ??? -
In VTR mode, in your Menu>VTR Set the last option's not A/V -> DV OUT?
how could it not be if i'm looking at the manual and the camera?
-
We must have a different version camera ??
Mine is the European model - There is definately no reference to DV out in any of the menus.
