  1. When I use Source Range, I used to be able to see the audio displayed along with the video, but now, I do not see it. All it shows is a straight line regardless of what is happening. This audio display helps to fix audio synch problems. It's very useful.

    Try playing with this function:

"Display Audio" -- It's in the lower right corner.

And then get back to us.
    Hello.

    ... as in this tickbox:

    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. It is ticked. Like I said, it shows a straight line regardless of what's going on in the video. The audio is Mp3 (I think VBR).

I am led to believe that TMPGEnc and VBR MP3 audio don't get along too well, so that could be causing your problem.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. I've tried VirtualDub Mp3 Freeze to extract the audio to [.wav], but it doesn't do it. It starts to and stops without any errors. It produces a 0 KB [.wav] file. I've tried BeSweet, but it says that it is an invalid input file, or something like that. VirtualDub will do it, but it always gives the audio skew error at the beginning. Is there another program that can extract the [.mp3] audio from this Xvid [.avi] and convert it to [.wav] without causing a problme in the audio synch department.

I think Goldwave can extract the audio from an AVI into WAV. You could then use the time warp function to stretch or shrink the audio to the exact same duration as the video, which should, in theory, correct any sync issues.

If you are using an AVI as source, you might be better off doing your editing in virtualdub then frameserving to TMPGenc, or using an AVISynth script to control your edits using VirtualDubMod and then TMPGEnc.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  8. --I was only using TMPGEnc because when you use Source Range, you can see the audio displayed alongside the video. You can then look for a big sound in the video so you can see how much the audio is off. This is more accurate than trying to "guesstimate" from watching the video in WMPlayer.

--I was using VirtualDub & Mod to edit, but they create a skew in the audio and video. Goldwave costs money. I've decided to demux the [.mp3] using VirtualDub Mp3 Freeze and then use Audacity to convert the [.mp3] to [.wav]. This might solve the skew problem but I still won't have an accurate way of determing audio and video desync. The duration of the audio and video is the same, but it doesn't match when you watch it. Let me just work with those two programs and watch it a bit so I can find a way to fix the audio and video synch problems. Thanks anyway, guys.

  9. I had this problem once. You are either missing the proper audio codec or TMPGENc Plus does not see the proper audio codec.

I needed to install an AC-3 decoder and my problem went away.
