To "create" true 5.1 you need 6-channel sound. If you dice up that poor little 2-channel track, at best you can get all three front speakers(R,L and C) and your subwoofer section (LFE) but it needs to be all frequencies below 120Hz (I assume you are making Dolby Digital not DTS).
The real problem is the surround section. How are you going to pick out sounds that you think should be in either rear speaker at any given time. You're not. Because "A" you're not getting paid to do it and "B" you don't have the time. And "C" it would probably sound like shit anyway. So follow my suggestion of just seeing if you can pull some good old Dolby Surround out of it. If you can't, then settle for what you got.Your miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision. -
Hi,
Yeah the track is Dolby Digital, it for a movie i made which i would
like to sell on my website, i have done a DD 2.0 & Pro Logic Ex Mix
Next i would like a DD 5.1 and DTS 2.0 & 5.1, do you think that a
4.7gb disk can hold 8 dobly (Dts) tracks with 2 hours of video.
I am using DVD Workshop 2 As well, i think it said i can load 8 tracks,
still i would like to have a go.
Thanks -

Just curious? Where are you getting your DTS encoding from?Your miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision. -
how did you do a pro logic EX ? You must have Nuendo -- a very expensive software package .. pretty advanced ...
in vegas you need to set your properties to 5.1 so that you can encode to 5.1 ...
but you should split up your stereo (which you can do with channel selector in vegas) and pan it properly ..
you would import your stereo file 6 times and pan each channel and select one track (both) for LFE (vegas will do the crossover)"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
