  1. I have Sony MiniDV camcorder TRV25. It picks a lot of wind noise when I tape outdoor. I just want to know if there is any free or low cost software that will remove or reduce the wind noise when I edit the file. I have Screenblast Movie Studio software for editing.

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Stretch a condom over the mic to reduce or eliminate wind noise. I know it sounds wierd, but pros do it. Also consider a standard wind screen, you know the little afro thingy.

As for your tapes already recorded, I am afraid there isn't much you can do for it. I am not aware of any free tools that remove wind noise. You might try a band stop filter that basically blocks the low frequencies (where most of the wind noise will be).

You may want to give Gold Wave a chance. Load the video into it, select Effect=>Filter=>Noise Reduction and one of the Presets.

  4. The free Audacity has noise removal. Cool Edit also has good noise removal as does Audio Cleaning Lab by Magix (very inexpensive around the net).
