I have been reading through these forums for a few days now and I can say that they are wonderful/informative. I am still one of those guys who won't buy anything unless I know it is just the one for me.

Perhaps I should explain my situation. I am moving in a few days and I plan to live in my new apartment for at least 3 years. My roommate and I decided we wanted to go all out in electronics, with a new tv, dvd player, digital surround sound, ps2, xbox, etc...

Well I own many dvds, some of which are not US dvds. So I need to get a player that can support these. I also just bought an NEC 3500a DVD burner, that I really want to try out. My plan is to look for a dvd player that can play absolutely everything that a computer can, if that is even possible. Money is not my main concern, I want high quality and ability to last for at least a year or two of playing all that is available online and for foreign films, etc...

Now I looked through the forums and all over the search engine... I couldn't make a full decision though and I know I won't let myself buy anything until I do.

The Philip's DVP642 seems popular right now. From what I have told you though, with price not being my main concern, with my setup, and also with wanting every feature that I can possibly squeeze out of a dvd player.. Would this be the pick that you guys would make?

Thank you in advance for even taking the time to read this, but especially thank you for answering if you can.
