  1. Hello all, I recently borrowed an external DVD burner for the weekend. I burnt about 4 copies of the same cd set (just kinda messing around really, and wanted to archive some of my DVD sets). Anyway, the burner worked fine. I had some vob files and the like from DVDshrink. I burned them using ISO Level 2 without really knowing I was supposed to burn with ISO level 1 (according to the burning DVDs with Nero guide). The DVDs play fine on my new stand alone (except older player I have). But now I am concerned that I should have done it with ISO level 1.

    but...

Doesn't ISO level just have to do with length of file names? Seeing as that all my file names had only eight characters and underscores (all ISO 1 compatable as far as I can tell), does it really matter what ISO level I used? I really hope not, as I burnt an entire spindle of these DVDs using Level 2.

Am I missing something? Is my logic flawed?

It doesnt matter burning at iso2 cause i do it a lot and some commercial dvd`s are iso2 with long labels,as long as you used dvd-video settings, not all dvd players will play burned dvds cause of being too old.

  3. That is kinda what I though. Unless I am wrong, ISO refers to the length of the file names (VOB, BUP, IFO). All of these are all 8 letters or characters (only underscore) anyway (from DVDshrink). But yet I see lots of posts where people are asking what is wrong with their burned DVDs and the usual response is "put it on ISO Level 1, or it won't work". But given the fact that the file names are within 8 letters, I don't see why ISO level matters.
