    Hello,
    If you leave it on the pc go as high as you have space for. For cd-r I think a 1pass at 750 or so should do for most 2 hour movies.

    Heya,

    No offense but I believe the question was regarding resolution not bit-rate.

    I convert my DVDs to DivX and halve the resolution from 720x576 to 352x288. I have found that DivX videos I have downloaded with high resolutions play jerky on my "TV-out PC"(P3 450Ghz).

    I am also interested in what resolutions people encode DVD > DivX / XviD. What do the experts do?

  4. I use 640x480 for full screen stuff. For widescreen I usually use 640 by whatever it takes to get the picture height at the proper aspect ratio, usually around 288. I usually inverse telecine (NTSC) to 24 fps if necessary (and possible).
