hey, i was wondering something, i have an external dvd burner, but since my pc doesn't have USB 2.0, the burning take about 2-3 hours, and i was wondering, since its an external burner, should just leave the computer alone while its burning? or is it safe to go on? cause it takes a long time, and i want to go online![]()

You don't mention in your profile which CPU you have. Asuming your CPU is fairly fast and, just as importantly, your HD is modern and it and your MB have decent transfer rates, you should be fine. No doubt you have buffer underrun protection and you're probably already utilizing it since your burns take that long. That's about 1/2 to 1/3X
Typical for a burn across a USB1.1 interface.
I'd say you're transfer is being limited by the USB and not the CPU or HD, so you should be safe enough multitasking while burning
BTW I like your username -
If i was you I would invest in a USB 2.0 card well worth the money and your sanity.

You could always remove the drive from its external housing and install it inside your computer, as it's just a normal ATAPI drive anyhows, and speed up the burning process dramatically if you don't want to buy the card...
