Will need know that it may not work on all dvd players because of the different formats (+ & - ), but should work in computers w/ a dvd rom.

Make it a region free disc, and use quality media when burning.
If your worried about others selling it once they buy it you may want to copyright the material (talk to a lawyer) depending on how valuable this material is.

thats what I can think of off the top of my head

I think one of the most crucial things you would need to know is 4 different hair styles.

Sorry that was just to obvious and i couldnt let it go.. but if you lookaround you will see here that there really isnt a way to protect a dvd from being copied if you have the original. but if your asking HOW to make a dvd with video well there are lots of ways and if you look at some of the tools and forum posts you might get a good idea,

A disc is made region free when you author ( or create ) the dvd. I have never heard of those discs and dont find any reports on it in the media section either.

  6. Yea it will be authored and everything from scratch from the film producer so we should be good there

Well the immediate thing that comes to mine, assuming you make the disks region free, is that you will have to deal with regional formats. The two main ones are PAL and NTSC and one format will not necessarily play on hardware formatted for the other. If you anticipate alot of sales outside of your region then consider making two DVDs, one encoded and authored as PAL and one as NTSC. Then just distribute them accordingly. If you must stick to one format then opt for NTSC if possible since its largely compatible on PAL hardware and PAL support is very sketchy on NTSC equipment. Ultimately your output format will probably be determined by the format you shot in though.

Use the best media you can find but if you are using any burned media then you really have two options. Either provide a warranty with your product stating that you will refund the money or replace the disk (with another brand of media) if it won't play on their equipment (because no burned media will play on all DVD players), or state in the license that the disk is burned and therefore not guaranteed to play on all equipment and that they buy at their own risk.

  8. Sorry for the dumb question but here it goes. I live in Hampton, VA, so where exactly is my "region" and how would I know if I'm shipping "out of region?" Thanks

Anywhere in the United States is going to be Region 1 and will use NTSC. Since you are making it region free you can ignore the actual Region #, just go by what format the county that you are shipping to uses. Here is a good breakdown of what countries use what but I suggest you double check a few more sites just to be sure.

Cool, thanks for the reply. So basically as long as I ship in the U.S. I'm fine but if I'm shipping overseas I need to check first
