  1. Does anyone know why Plextor hasn't introduced a DL writer yet? What are they waiting for?

Dunno what they're waiting for but perhaps if you emailed them you could get a answer for us!

  3. They don't have a DL writer yet because they have chosen not to support the +R DL format. When an official -R DL format is made then we will get DL writers from them.

If this is true, then it is awesome. +R DL sucks. I'm waiting for -R DL before even considering upgrading.

Hmmmms...where did you hear that from? If I'm not mistaken Plextor was not going to side with either +R or -R. If you look at Plextor's history their first DVD BURNER was DVD+R not DVD-R. With that in mind I don't think they chose not to support the +R format. I'm hoping their next DVD BURNER will be DUAL LAYER. Crosses my fingers but not my eyes!

  7. Well I think it's just for the time being. Something about the +R specs not actually being finalised yet, so they won't support it til they are official.

  8. +R DL was finalized in March so that is definitely not the reason... Or that they are waiting for the -R DL vapour-ware format like 888888 does

My guess is that Plextor is waiting for Sanyo to ship them 16x capable chipsets before releasing a new drive which surely will be DL capable. If they haven't given up on making burners completely...
