Anyone using a wireless repeater? I had to move my router to the farthest room in the house, due to some remodeling. My reception is still okay, but it gets pretty sketchy on some days. I've been interested in getting a repeater, but I'm not sure if they're any good. No sense in shelling out another $70, if my signal is still going to be unstable.

What are your signal stregth/quality going down to on that computer? I've surfed the web OK on signals around 10% without much noticeable loss. I did notice that file transfers that use the bandwidth will take longer with low signal strength, but unless you've got some fast internet you shouldn't notice the drops ever so often.

My signal strength varies from day to day. Some days it's just as good as when the router was upstairs, but some days it just won't hold the signal. I think I live in an area with a lot of interference. It's actually been behaving for the past week, so I might just live with it.

I've had great luck with the D-Link DWL-900AP+. It's an access point that can be used as a repeater, bridge, client, etc. Fairly expensive new but refurbed ones go for around $50.

Have also heard good things about the Hawking Wireless Antenna which was on sale at Micro Center last week for $25. CompUSA has it for $30.

Jayhawk - Thanks! I was looking at that antenna, but I wasn't sure about it's performance. It's cheaper than buying a repeater, so I was really interested in picking one up.
