Iv'e been downloading and burning for quite a while with good results, but I lent a friend a couple of movies he said that on his TV one is tall and thin and the other is about the size of a letterbox. I have deduced that because I have wide screen tv and he only has a normal bog standard one that the problem must be there. What format do I need to convert them to rectify this. I use cucusoft, tempenc/ and main concept and then burn with nero.

Tell your mate to BUY a telly made this millenium.......why waste YOUR effin TIME time?

Hello,
Use "keep aspect ratio" to maintain the same 2.35:1 or 1.85:1 ratio. It will still have the black bars but won't be stretched or shrunk.

Got to admit I'm a bit baffled by the US.......do you have normal (non HDTV) NTSC widescreen tellys (as we Brits/europeans do.....with PAL)?
Isn't it you guys (via the motion picture experts group blah blah etc) that came up with the standards in the first place?
Hell, you'd STRUGGLE to buy a 4:3 telly overhere nowdays (or for the last 5 years....)
And if you've got a ws and an .avi enabled DVD player (or TV out on your pc) the TV can correct/fill/zoom/crop video to your liking..plus the hardware as well.
So.....whats the standard for new TV's in the US (or Canada)...is it still 4:3? -

P.S. I'd have to check the stores but I think you MIGHT still be able to buy a 4:3 square tv, though that would be tough.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
