i used dvd decryptor for my ripping. just recently everything i rip goes at the speed of 1.7kb/s which turns out to mean 1 whole hour to rip one cd. normally i'd rip everything in 10-20 minutes.

has this happened to anyone else before? anythoughts on this?

are you ripping with a dvdrom or dvd burner? XP has a habit of changing the drive to PIO mode which makes ripping slow. check to see your drive is set to DMA mode. here's a guide on how to set to DMA in XP.

well only the drive i use to rip, a none burning drive, was stuck on pso only mode. had to uninstall ide so it could reinstall and work with dma on.

i rip a cd i burned previously and it went at 2.1x speed. i'll have to wait and see if this really worked when i get something good to burn. my burner had dma on and it went just as fast as the drive with pso mode.

My harddrive is defrag constantly. eveer since i recieved the last bad boot. you ever had NVT boot sector not found message. i cant remember exactly what the letters are but it starts with "N" it's happend to me 3-4 times before, never again. i read it happens with files are constantly added and deleted from your root directory of harddrive and all the fragments mess up your boot sector some how.

thanks for the help ppl. if it worked i'll post.
