im using dvd2svcd + cce (2.50)...i put vbr multipass = 6 passes, but after the .vaf file as been encoded, cce only make 5 passes...shouldnt be 6 + 1vaf file?????(this happens only in dvd2svcd or in every other programs (like dvd2dvdr )<-----this one seems to make one more step than dvd2svcd) ??????
thanx

Some of the one click programs do this. Why is probably because they think most people equate 6 passes with a total of 6 passes. Dvd rebuilder does this also so 6 passes equals 1 to create the vaf and 5 more passes.

CCE is funny in that when you do a multi-pass encode it creates a VAF file, which is very similar to the first pass of a XVID/DIVX file.. it contains information about the complexity of each frame.
TMPGEnc (and to the best of my knowledge, MainConcept) do not do this, so in TMPGEnc 2-pass is 2 passes, while in CCE 2 pass is VAF creation pass + 2 passes.
As troyvcd1 says, the one click programs simplify things by counting the VAF file creation pass as a pass like in TMPGEnc.
