Iam making a 2 hour movie fit on one cd and if you say this doesnt work, I have seen a bin and a cue vcd that had a 2 hour movie too.
So I have been using Dr.Divx and when I compress it I choose 1 cd size/700 megs or the 650 custom size but when its done and I check the size its around 720 and when I put it into NERO to burn a VCD it shows its around 1.5 gigs.
whats going on???

Hello,
First of all avi is NOT mpeg1 vcd compatible (ie not a .mpg file). If you want it to be a divx cdr just overburn it (it should fit on a 700mb disc).
If you want vcd you have to encode it differently. Check out the conversion guides to the left <== under how to.

P.S. dr divx makes divx avi files, not vcd mpeg files.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
stupid me should have know mpeg is only for vcd
then how much can DIVX overburn?
just make a data cd in nero and drag and drop it?
but DIVX is not compatible with all DVD Players?
and how much can it overburn?
and how much can VCD's overburn meaning megs and or minutes of movie? -
Hello,
Ok, what is your SOURCE? Is it a dvd, downloaded avi, captured avi file? You have to turn that into a mpeg1 vcd compatible file. You can usually overburn two to three minutes on a cdr. Do a net search on "overburn" and you'll find guides for that.
You can check out this list:
https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=4;11#4;11
That will give you a list of ways to convert a source to vcd.

And yes, divx isn't a common feature on dvd players.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I used DVD-Decrpyter to extract the VOB files than I can convert into MPEGs I guess
umm but the Cdrs say 80 minutes but I have seen complete films on one bin/cue for a VCD -
Hello,
Why don't you look up the dvd-vcd conversion guides on this website? It will give you a better idea. Again, a net search will give you the overburn specifics (just don't go too much unless you have 99minute cd-rs).

"Q-9 Can you really fit 120 minutes of video in a single CD-R?
Well of course! That's why you're here, right?
Really, it all depends on the type of video material you are trying to encode.
There have been reports of some 147+ minute videos created with KVCD templates and burned on a single 80 minute CD-R.
More information on new methods:
Download this: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2142
Then read this thread: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1729 "
"possible to encode video up to ~360 minutes of near VCD quality on a single 80 minute CD-R. "

Hello,
Good luck with kvcd. I haven't tried it myself but I've heard some say it's not quite as good as promised (I can't vouch for that, so give it a go).
However, since it takes so much time to encode why not invest in a dvd burner? You can get a dvd burner for under $100US so it might be a more attractive option than squeezing hours onto a vcd, just a thought.
