  1. Hi,
I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to give me a hand with this... Any time I try to encode a movie with subtitles, the subs always come out white/gray and partially transparent. Timing, font size, and formatting come through just fine. I've tried loading the .IFO file from the original disc, but there isn't any noticable difference. I've tried this with several discs, by different authoring studios, with the same result. I am using OSex 0.0110a1 to rip the VOBs to disk, and encoding using the menconder option in ffmpegx from there. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Nomally loading the right .ifo file should fix this kind of problems. Use the preview button to check -before- actually launching the encoding.

That I do. I eventually just started encoding anyway, even though the subs weren't right. I've even tried loading the *wrong* IFO file, just to see what happened (nothing). From what I can tell, it just seems to be ignoring the IFO altogether. Any ideas?

I had the same problem, never knowing I was able tyo influence it where can I load the .IFO file? In the load subs box? And is it possible to do this with 1 .VOB file?

  5. Load the .ifo file in the "Sub palette" field, and yes it can be used with a VOB file to preserve subtitle colors and rendering.

  6. Well, I'm apparently doing everything correctly from what I've read, yet subs still always come out white. If I ever find a way around this issue, you can be sure I'll register as the rest of the program works great.

  7. I am having the SAME problems. Even when I use an IFO file.. any file.. I can sometimes get the color to change but IT IS ALWAYS too transparent.. I really like the app but am forced to use the not nearly as configurable OpenShiiva right now. I have done everything I could think of (except use IFOedit.. because I am on a mac)...

Any idea? maybe someone can send me an IFO that works or is it a known bug?

  8. Anyone at all? Please? I am desperate for help here!

  9. SOMEONE save me from Open Shiiva? Anyone? Help.. I beg ya?

  10. There is no answer because there is no answer to your problem. You are not the only one to have it.
One day I suggested Major, our beloved guru, to use the way OpenShiiva treats subtitles but it's probably impossible. I must say though I would like to be able to choose the color, the font and so on... as it can be done in OpenShiiva. The results are quite remarkable.
Moreover I guess it's not a priority for English speakers. Pity...

  11. I didn't forget to improve the subtitling, only there are so many to-do items left that it will need some time to get sorted out.

  12. I guess so. Thanks a lot for your answer anyway.

  13. Well ok I will check back in another month or 2. I don't know why I am the only one who has this problem :\ It got even worse today with the subtitles going outta sync on Azumanga....

I will keep using open shiiva and hope that someday I can download a version and it will work FLAWLESSLY... maybe in a month or 2 when I get a Dual G5 I will give it another wirl!
