Are you doing a whole disk copy or just the main feature? I've had trouble with decrypter and shrink on some movies with the good old FBI warning screens before. But was easily fixed by selecting movie only. Then it ripped it fine.

    Hi rabg,
I use decrypter and then shrink for the movies that wont back up directly in shrink. You need to go into the TOOLS tab, select SETTINGS, select CSS. Change CSS dectection search size to 9,000. Change DeCSS Plus Key Occurrences to 9. Then go to the FILE MODE tab. On Start Up Select Files, set to ALL. Some movies have problems if you do not select ALL files. Once the disc is backed up in the hard drive, then use Shrink to compress. I hope this helps.

  4. Well, I backed-up th eorginal with DVD Shrink, main movie only. Played back on syandalone without issue.

Now, the orginal got trashed and I need to back-up the back-up. Try to rip with Shrink and it hangs. Tried with DVD Decrypt but I get a cycle error and can't do it. Am I stuck with only the back-up?

If you are looping over and over again, its usually a badly scratched original, laser hits a bad point and jumps back. Not so unusual. Try a good polish of the original and try again. Failing that, get another copy and try. BJD, good movie. Someone in my family has a smallpart in it !

Hi rabg. The decrypter settings are used when Shrink wont work with some DVD's. If the disc that you are trying to copy is single layer, there is no need to use shrink to copy the disc. The best way is to use DVD Decrypter to copy the disc in ISO mode. Another option is to use Nero's Copy entire Disc function. Make sure that you have the latest software for Nero and latest firmware for your burner. Please use good quality discs such as TDK or Maxell. This will help ensure that you have good compatibility with all of your DVD players. If you have problems reading the disc, try playing it in the DVD burner rather than the DVD ROM.
    I hope this helps.
PS: you should have a look at Lord Smurfs website. It has lots of excellent information that has assisted me greatly with DVD burning over the past year. http://digitalfaq.com/
