Ok guys, last time i received a warning for posting (what i thought) was asking a different question in two different parts of the forum. Im not trying to be smart and am trying to follow the rules so here goes my third question.

Ive recently posted something about tmpg 3.0 xpress and the diffuculty i am having with VFAPI transmissions errors, (when) converting some files.

Here is the format of the original avis (two avis exactly the same) :- video, 23.97, 640x272 , 1040 kb/s. Ntsc (of course) ound ac3 448 kb/s (5 ch) CBR 48000 Hz .

When loading this file in to tmpgenc and try to cut/edit i get VFAPI transmissions errors.

Originaly i thought this must be something to do with the packed bitstream (aka b-frame decoder lag). I used virtuadub to demux the video and virtuadubmod to demux the audio.

Tried just loading the demuxed video into tmpgenc xpress and it didnt crash. It worked fine. Next i loaded the demuxed audio WITH the demuxed video and BANG thats when i got the error . I do have the ac3 pluggin installed with tmpgenac xpress .

My question is, what is causing the problem with the ac3 sound within tmpgenc xpress. My plan now is to encode the demuxed video in tmpgenc xpress then just add the ac3 stream in dvdlab.

There are two problems iam facing here. First 1 is how to provision space for the ac3 and mpeg2 on a dvd. Ac3 that is in the original avi will be the exact same format and therefore the exact same size when i author on a dvd right? So provisioning space is for mpeg2 is just a matter of 4.7GB - (size of ac3 sound). Second 1 is how do i join 2 ac3 clips ?
