ok, im new here and looked in the other topics, so if this has been posted before or if i'm in the wrong forum just let me know. i have Mainconcept MPEG Encoder and TMPGEnc DVD Author. no matter how hard i try i cant find out how to get my avi file to fit on the screen after i burn it. i try all the allowed sizes and it wont fit 100%. ive even tried 16:9 ratio. am i just out of luck? i only care because what im burning has subtitles and i cant read 100% of them when theyre burned and im sick of wasting blank dvds.
second, how do i compress the files so they are smaller? i can only burn 2 hours worth of avis, and i know their must be a way to make the files smaller. help! thanks.

use dvd+-rws.
and add black borders with mainconcept, under details->crop and scale and scale down it a bit.
and lower the bitrate to make smaller mpegs, under details->advanced-> bitrate.
and read the included help. -
i tried the borders but it covered up the subtitles even over, like the black overlapped. is there a way to add borders so it doesnt cover up part of the video? thanks.

scale doesn't remove anything. didn't you use the crop function???
