  1. Hello all

I have a demo reel of my animation work that lasts just over a minute. I need to copy this to VHS tape in both PAL and NTSC format.

I have the file uncompressed, so can put that into any format really. And I can do the PAL ones myself from the output on my computer (ok quality, but not great because the image doesn't come out full screen).

My problem is the NTSC ones I want to send to America. How do I get them recorded and where is a reasonably priced place?

I could probably convert the file to NTSC myself (in fact I think I have, but don't know how to test), but it's getting it onto the actual VHS tape that I'm at a loss with.

And yes, I know DVD would be SOO much easier, but the companies insist on NTSC VHS tape.

You have just a few options:

    1. Get a NTSC VHS, configure your video card output to NTSC and record the signal into the VCR.

    2. Get a NTSC VHS and get a multi-system converter that will convert your PAL computer video out to NTSC that can be recorder by the NTSC VHS deck.

    3. Get a VHS, like SAMSUNG SV-5000, that is capable to receive a PAL signal and record directly into NTSC tape.

    4. Take your PAL VHS tape to a video editing company that will do the conversion for you.

  3. Ok, thanks for that.

As I'm only doing a few very short tapes, I guess taking them to some sort of local editing company is my best option.

Is there a way to test if the conversion I've made to NTSC is correct? All I did was put the file into TMPGEnc and saved using the NTSC DVD setting. The file is progressive so I didn't have to worry about fields.

I'm guessing that it'd be cheaper for me if I can provide them with an NTSC file, but I'd like to know that it's right first!

    Thanks
    Damian
