MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (HLN) - A Memphis woman was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after she bludgeoned her boyfriend to death with an iPod.
Arleen Mathers, 23, was arrested Thursday morning after she called Memphis Police and said she had killed her boyfriend, according to a Sheriff’s Department report.

When deputies arrived at Mathers’ apartment at 528 Poplar Avenue, Mathers led them to the body of her boyfriend, Brad Pulaski, 27.

Brad Pulaski had died of blunt trauma to the head after being repeatedly bludgeoned with an iPod, a popular MP3 player produced by Apple.

Police said no motive has been confirmed, although evidence suggested the murder was the result of a domestic dispute after Pulaski erased the contents of Mathers’ iPod.

According to law officers, Mathers was hysterical when police arrived and told them that she killed her boyfriend only after he accused her of illegally downloading music and erased about 2,000 of her MP3s. Mathers complained that it took 3 months to build her music collection.

An autopsy performed Friday afternoon at Methodist Hospital showed that Brad Pulaski had been beat multiple times in the face and chest by a blunt metal object, and died of internal bleeding, said Dr. Felix Klamut, deputy coroner.

According to Apple’s website, the iPod is partially made of a hard metal plate that’s been praised for it’s resistance to regular wear and tear, like drops and coffee spills.

“It took him a while to die,” Dr. Klamut said. “She must have stabbed him 40 to 80 times with that iPod. His death was not instantaneous, that’s for sure”

Arleen Mathers was arraigned Friday night by a video hookup from the county jail. Municipal Court Judge Simon Lambert set her bond at $600,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for March 9.

Sounds like Liza Minelli's ex-husband David Gest.

DVD_Ripper - That is so sad. I don't know if I can't look away from it because I'm some kind of sick twisted mofo, or if I'm looking for something I'm not able to see yet....

Not nearly as sad as your jaded perception of what you think is beautiful.

Perhaps, but since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in this case, I was the beholder, then tough! Get over it.

You go around judging people by appearances and call me ugly. Remember, when you point a finger at someone, three more are pointing back at you.

I go around judging people by my standards. Since you are doing the exact same thing to me, it makes you no better. I am entitled to do it as much as you are.

As you grow up, you will find better retorts than the grade school rubber/glue analogy in your last post. A decent argument is based on a battle of wits. Come back when you've developed some.

I'm jumping in on this and hopefully get us back on track.

First, in general, That pic was wrong. Very poor taste there DVD_Ripper. If you're going to post something like that, warn people first. I must have stared at a crack for 10 minutes wondering how she could get that thong on. After coming to the conclusion that it may never have been removed for the longest time, I got a sick feeling and then moved on.

Now the iPod incident. Does the woman have a 56k modem for gettin gher music or is she going to the wrong places. Granted the guy shouldn't have deleted all of her music, but to beat him to death with the iPod, that's real insanity and she needed to be taken off the street anyway.

Saying someone is ugly because they are carrying some "holiday weight" is unfair. someone who is that obese is an ugly person on the inside and the outside. i do believe both Gluttony and Sloth are included in the big 7? She's definitely guilty of those.

And who appointed you judge of all that is good and beautiful? And where did you get that wonderful gift of looking into someone's soul by having them stand on a scale? Man, if you did have half the gifts you profess, you would be rich beyond the dreams of avarice. Too bad, though. You appear to be nothing but a shallow, ignorant, materialistic, blowhard, who owns a computer and internet account.

There may be hope, though. Instead of looking around and pointing out what is wrong with what you see, look at yourself and work out what's wrong with you. Trust me, you'll have your hands full. Anyway, I wish you well, if you try.

    Hmm, nice evasion.

That woman is so overweight she will get circulation and hygiene problems, she will probably get diabetes, suffer a massive stroke and then die. All because she cannot control what she puts in her mouth, that's pretty sad. The fact she allows herself to have her photograph taken in what she feels is a provocative pose seems to indicate she is comfortable and indeed proud of her body. Anyone proud of being grossly unhealthy is either mentally ill, or plain stupid. i am opting for plain stupid, hence i do not find her attractive.

Yes, this is an opinion, and i am fully qualified to own it whether you agree with it or not. I am curious to know which "gifts" you think i am professing to posses, though......

  25. Aw, **** it. It ain't worth the yellow card.

The woman is fat. Horizontally-challenged. Overweight. Or whatever the politically-correct term is for people who blame society for their problems instead of accepting responsibility for themselves.

And as for pointing fingers? Well here's a few for the 'morally superior' members of our forum...

How in the hell can you judge a person's character from
their appearance? Shit, if you were to suffer a car accident
and lose part of your face I would not think the less of you
even if it was your fault.

Man, you know uneducated tribes in South East Asia
persecute the so called "ugly" because they believe
physical blemishes are a mark of the devil.

Sounds like you need to get packing :P

your weight is controlled by two things

    1) how much you eat

    2) how much you exercise.

she clearly has the balance wrong, making her both greedy and lazy. not good qualities i feel.

Big difference between being born with a deformity or suffering an accident, and not being able to look after yourself.
