  1. I have a panasonic dmr-e80h that I have been trying to use to copy my VHS to DVD. Keep in mind I haven't even attempted to copy any copyright material these are all home movies. The problem is when playing the VCR through the DVD recorder I get this horrible constant pink to green color shifting.

At first I thought it may have been the age pf the tape. So I tired out a bunch of my movies, including new ones, and the color shifting occured on all of them.

Thinking it was a macrovision issue I bought two video stabilizers. One generic and the other was a Sima Copy This! Neither did absolutely anything for this color issue.

So I decided to move some of the cables around. I found out a couple of things. I unhooked the dvd recorder completely and hooked up the VCR directly into the TV using the a/v cables the color shifting still occured. Next i hooked the VCR directly into the TV using just the coaxial cables no a/v the color shifting stopped. Thinking this may work I hooked the VCR into the DVD recorder using just coaxial cables but the color shifting still occured.

Someone told me to purchase a sima color corrector but I've read this does not work with dvd recorders. Can anyone help me out with this?? It's driving me insane. This shifting is quite obvious.

    Thanks!

The mediocre TBC in there could be causing this.

Try playing on a different VCR. Sounds like your VCR's video processor is going bad. Your getting color shift on all hookups except RF?

  6. Thanks for the suggestion. I hooked up three other VCRs. 2 older, one fairly new. All had the color shifting.

Yes it seems to occur with everything but the r/f connections. Although I have yet to try hooking the recorder to the tv using s-video, gonna try that today.

  7. In reply to kabanero, the shifting still occurs without the recorder. When I hooked just the VCR to the tv using a/v same thing happened.

Maybe the color shift is present on the tape and the recorder is just faithfully reproducing it

  9. Well it appears to occur with all of my videos. Old, recent, varying brands.

The SAME THING is happening to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My panasonic DVD DMRH80 is color shifting only when i have my SONY and SANYO VCR'S hooked up ready to dub to DVD. The sound and video is fine its just the color shifting and nobody knows why. I have tried again 2 different VCR's and different cables and the samething everytime. All the tapes are pre-recordered tennis from basic cable T.V that i personally recordered onto blank tapes. I have tried many different tapes with the same result!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello,
If this is happening on "real" videotapes (like movies bought from a store) than its MACROVISION and you need a descrambler. If its happening on ALL of your tapes than maybe try different cables?? Sorry if this has been tried before. Good luck.
