Yes, most recorders I know of allow you to Pause a recording, load another tape, find the spot, and press Pause again to restart the recording.

For speedier assembly, I'd run all the tapes to the 1st point you want to copy?

The only thing the +RW is going to give you, is the ability to delete something recorded, and gain back that time on the DVD.

And play it in a DVD player without finalizing. Have not tried DVD+R though if it plays.

Yes +R's need to be finalized, +RW's dont need to be finalized, but on my Panny's anyway, they need to be "made compatable" otherwise they will not have a top menu on any player except the Panny recorder.

With my Liteon recorder, the top menu (unfinalized DVD+RW) is visible when played in another player. However, when I delete a clip, it does not seem to gain space.

Sorry I should have been more specific. If a person deletes the LAST recorded item, you should gain back all your time, that the last item took up. Although on my Panny's even if I delete a item other than the last item, I do gain back some portion of time, just not all. Same for -RW's.
Funny thing about the menu thing. I dont think Panny's really like + discs. Oh it will record to them, but they also have problems with search speeds on + discs. I am missing the fastest 2 speeds when using + discs. Although once I finalize the +R discs, then I get back the 2 fastest search speeds, but never on +RW's. Hence I hardly use + discs in my Panny's.
