I have a box of DVD+R discs from Memorex. DVDINFOPro tells me that they are the famed RICHOJPNR01 discs.
Why does the box show the RW logo on it? Is the disc rewriteable. Nero says no. So, why the logo?

I think it's just part of the logo for "+" format. I've seen other brands do this (HP).

The stupid DVD+RW alliance logo always has the RW.
This may have to do with the format starting out as rewritable (if I remember correctly). Anyway, it is silly and confusing. There is no reason there isnt't a DVD+R logo without the W. -

... and I was right (again).

Okay what's up is the RW alliance was started to avoid paying for the rights to use the DVD-R technology.
The "RW" logo you're talking about simply takes the place of the "DVD" logo that are on the other discs.
Think of it as a picture of their company logo, not a description of the media. All +R have the logo of the technology they use, just like all -R have the DVD logo on them.
Yes it's confusing to some. But if they're Rewriteable, it'll say plainly on the package or DVD itself.
