WinDV's "Record to DV device" function

How exactly does this work? I uploaded my DV and trimmed the video in VirtualDub and then resaved (Direct Stream Copy) and specified it in WinDV as the source AVI to record back onto my DV cam and all it says is "Error: Error". What am I doing wrong?

You did save in VDub as a DV AVI, right?

Uhm, yes. I thought that was well understood when I said I resaved as Direct Stream Copy. Anyways, yes, I did.

What kind of error are you getting?

When I first tried WinDV it worked fine for the capture, then, when I wanted to record back to the camera, WinDV would cause an error. Whenever I tried to click the 'Record to DV device' tab, it would throw a windows error (windows has encountered an error and needs to shut down the program..blah blah).

The way I got it working was to turn the camera off whenever selecting the opposite tab in WinDV..
