  1. I'm looking for some assistance finding the best possible solutions for capturing, editing, and authoring.

    Here are my specs

    Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop
    2.4ghz, 512mb Ram, 60gig Hard, 64mb ATI

Using Pyro A/V Link (Firewire) to capture my video mostly via the VCR

1st What in your opinion is a good software capture with considering my Pyro A/V Link

2nd Suggests for easy to use comprehensive video editing software

3rd and MOST IMPORTANT what Authoring (Burning) software have you found to be the most compatible with variuos DVD players.

My current problem is that I capture using Pinnacle Studios (bugged like no other for editing for authoring) then I have been taking that captured MPEG2 and using Tmpeg DVD author to make a DVD folder then using DVD Shrink to make that into an image and then DVD Decrypter to burn to the image. Maybe this process sounds good or maybe you can make it better..... maybe I just need to use different blank DVDs as I have experienced variuos playback issues.

All the same any assistance you might offer with this extremely large post would be great.

    Thank you,
    Brad

Playback issues like what? Help us out a little. This is the free site. You have to go to the pay site if you want us to use our powers of telepathy and telekinesis.

  3. Currently I have an issue that after about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through the movie the playback will start to skip and stop and go. I think this might be due to the labels I have been sticking on the DVDs.... my other concern is that when I attempt to output in TMPenc DVD Author I see this error

*The combined bitrate of the clip exceeds the upper limit for a standard DVD.

The current bitrate is 9800 kbps for video, 224 kbps for audio, and 10024 kbps combined.
It is necessary with a combined bitrate of less than 9.848Mbps (9848kbps).

Now when I create the DVD I am wondering will that effect playback... and how might I fix that.

    I like Winproducer pro 3.
It's rock solid with my AV/link. I think I paid $89 for it
    a while back.
It will capture in DV, and can also convert your DV stream
    to Mpeg1/2 on the fly.
Editing DV avi is a snap.

I still prefer Tmpgenc for my mgeg encoding, but the WinPro3
mpeg encoding is acceptable, just in my opinion TMPGenc is better.

I use TMPGenc Author. I believe Winpro3 has authoring built in,
but I have never used it. I'm hooked on the quality of TMPGenc Author,
and see no reason to change a good thing.

P.S. looking at your other posts.....
if you're having issues with your captures skipping, look seriously
into getting some king of TBC, or some sort of pass-thru device
    that contains a TBC.
