  1. Hi, I newly bought a rare movie on the internet. Its an old movie which I would like to make a backup of, and also be able to play it on my dvd player.

    Goal: Convert Laserdisk -> DVD

    I know about a lot of tools - but haven't tried them.
    (DVD2AVI and so on..)

    How do I get best quality picture and sound ?
    (the laserdisk have optic out..does this help?)

    I have Pinnacle Studio DV+ card.
    (It has only FireWire in)

  2. Is there any tool - which one can buy, to convert laserdisk and vhs to a DV-out plugg ?

    Cause my Capture card (studio dv+) has only DV in/out.
    The cards does also have a monitor out, and a s-video, but these are all for video-out.

    I am doing the same thing thunes. I am new also but I don't know of anything like that. I am using a WinTVGo card ($35), caturing the video(to .avi) from the composite out on my LD player with VirtualDub and converting it to SVCD mpeg2...takes a while, but I haven't heard another way to do it...

    What size are the images, Laserdisk and the mpeg2 movies?

    I have try and capture it with dazzle video creator II and it looks like the laser disc itself except this is in dvd (mpeg2) format and I can watch it on my computer and now am trying to burn it on a cd with mpeg2 quality.(or convert it into svcd format still deciding).

  6. Ok, but this is a rather expensive card. So I guess my best choice is to borrow, or make someone else capture it for me. Since I don't have many movies - only 1 that I want to capture to DVD.. yet..
