My burner is a Liteon 411S. Firmware is the lastest, FS0J. Hooked up to Windows XP. I burned a Nero data disk filled with mpg's on a Compusa dvd-r blank at 4X. I have not any problems with the media before. And have burned approximately 30 DVD with this drive. Nero said the burn completed error-free. But when I put the disk back in it won't read the disk. It tries for about 30 seconds and the light goes out. I try to view the drive contents and it asks to insert disk.

I also have been able to play these type of DVD's on my standalone DVD player, but not this one. But....

.....The weird part. I also have a Liteon 16X dvd player in another computer. It reads and plays the disk just fine. I can browse the files in explorer and play the mpg's in media players.

Has anyone seen this happen before?? The dvd appears to be clean, scratch free, etc..

  2. I have the same problem with an external Fwire TDK Burner. I was never able to figure out why but I could not read some DVD's that I just finished burning. So I bought a DVDRom so I could scan / check discs.

My BenQ822A burns DVD-RW but will not read or erase DVD-RW, though the DVD-RW can be played in any of my DVD players and recorders. No problem with DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-R discs. Only happens with DVD-RW discs.

    You could try 2 things.

Update nero to the latest release.
    Buy better blanks.
