One of my DVD players is a 5yr old Philips. It has trouble playing some blanks.
My first 10 Shintaro blanks all work but then I tried a cartoon called Joseph. No good. I reburnt it on 2 more blanks, a Vertex and a TDK - none of those worked either.
Burnt another 15 discs of other stuff, some on Shintaro and some Ritek, and all worked.
Just tried Lion King 3.
Burnt Disc 2 on Ritek but didn't work. I reburnt it at 2x and still didn't work. Tried Disc 1 at 2x and that didn't work either.
I ended up buying a new player to fix the problem but repeated failures of titles on different media has got me thinking. I've ruled out 2x burns as a fix.
Cheers

So are you saying that some of your discs worked and some didn't from the same spindle at the same speed? That is probably possible but some of the discs should play after trying a few times. Don't rule out your software.

The main one that got me was the same movie on 3 different brands of media and all didn't work on the Philips.
My new Pioneer plays everything just fine, including the discs my Philips won't play. The Philips has been relegated to the rumpus room.
