Everytime I start my computer, it's very likely that videos wont actually play (offline and online). Videos and music both do not play, and at the moment the only way I have been able to fix this is to restart my computer, sometimes even more than once or twice until my computer actually allows videos to play.
Offline, if I try to play a video Windows Media Player just shows a blank window, and online if I try to play something my internet freezes and needs restarting.
This has been a problem for a while but it is really getting annoying as I have to restart my computer almost every time I load it up.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Your codecs are screwed up; you may have installed or uninstalled some app and it took them over and made a mess.
You should uninstall all your codecs possible and reinstall a minimal set.
An automated way of doing this is to use K-Lite Basic, which will try to clean up existing installed codecs before installing new ones.
Basically ffdshow and a couple of splitters.
Caveat: some will tell you this is recipe for disaster.Last edited by AlanHK; 5th Feb 2011 at 07:03.
