  1. Have two svcd format cd's, trying to make ONE DVD out of these. REad the tutorial on TMPGE method, changed the environmental settings, renamed the video files...video1, video2, etc. But when I try and read to hard drive, program will not read the files. Is there another approach or another program that might be a bit more effective? Appreciate any, and all help....most appreciative for taking pity on me!!!

  3. FOr example, when I browse to video file on second window of the PROJECT WIZARD ( the file I took from the MPEG FOLDER of the SVCD CD and renamed ) I get an error message that says...CANNOT BE OPENED OR UNSUPPORTED. THere are two video files in this folder of the SVCD, one is only 8,000 long and the other seems to be the main video and is 8.15 M and the other file is 616 M. I am using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 version. Thanks for helping along....I know you gotta be busy like all of us, nice to see a helpful soul out here!!!

  5. How did you get the files from SVCD to the HHD? DId you extract them properly by using ISOBuster or VCDGear?
Were the file extensions .mpg or .dat ?

  6. i may can help here

use iso buster as said to extract the mpeg from the svcd.
then u got 2 mpeg files.

then load them up seperatly to tmpgenc at dvd pal or ntsc and let them encode 48000 audio ect. i dont join them.,, make the output size around 2.2gig for each..

i use dvd lab next. import the 1st mpeg to movie 1, join the start button to it.

add movie 2, import 2nd mpeg to movie 2 and join mov 1 to mov 2.
go to complie dvd and in 30 min you will have a dvd video ts folder with 2 movies that join, now burn the video ts folder to a dvd blank,,done

  8. OK, back again( believe me if I can do one of these, I will not pester the daylights out of ya'll). Installed ISOBUSTER and extracted the two mpeg files from SVCD DISK #1. All's well so far. Then went to TMPGENC and selected DVD NTSC mode, and tried to browse to these two files and load...I can see blue bar color over to about 7% and then program closes out., not allowing me to continue. Tried it a few times, when I load the file under BROWSE, VIDEO...it appears to begin then stops and program TMPGENC closes down. THOUGHTS?

  9. i know how painful it can be,took me a while too

open tmpgenc, close wizard, go options, enviromental settings, plugins, change the "directshow multimedia filereader" to 2 by right clicking and upping the priority.

u may need different codecs too?

if u can get the mpg to load up use the "sorce setting " to cut a bit of the movie to test instead of trying to encode the whole file. that way ull know in 10 min whether it works or not.

avicodec is also a good proggy to see what sort of file it is before and after encoding,

  10. Changed ENVIRO settings, getting same result ( file starts, then quits and TMPGEE shuts down). I did run the avicodec program to take a look at the filles, here are the results:

FILES are LIGOS MPEG VIDEO, MPEG-1 AUDIO LAYER 1
    Video says: 518M, 0Kbps, o.o fps, Ligus Mpeg Video..Supported
    Audio says: 97 MB, 224 Kbps, 2 Channels, 0 x 50, Mpeg 1 AUdio Layer 1, Supported.

Thanks for the help...are we at a deadend?

  11. im no xpert at this but heres my setup

    tmpgenc plus version - 2.521.58.169

this is wat avi codec says about a svcd i extracted the mpeg from
    File : 731 MB (813 MB), duration: 0:51:07, type: MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 88 %
    Video : 731 MB, 2000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 480*480 (16:9), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported
    Audio : 81 MB, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

notice yours has no kbps,or fps ?
does your file play in media player?
have you tryed different avi or mpeg files?

there is a good thread here in the tmpgenc sticky about common probs
i thnk u got 1 or more of 3 problems

    1. the file ure using is unsupported
    2. your tmpgenc proggy is no good version ect.
3.you may need more video codecs

theres a tmpgenc express trial version maybe try that
