  1. Hi,

I've tried all the mkv filters, players and can't get anything to work. I can't get VirtualDubMod to open it either(at first cuz of TEXT file), but then i used mkvmerge GUI to remove the other subtitles and it loaded but couldn't show the video because unknown format/codec...

The video file seems to be a Realplayer10 (I installed realplayer10, still can't play this file anywhere) with 2 vorbis audio tracks. Using mkvmerge GUI (mmg.exe) the video track says V_REAL/RV40.

Is there something I can do so somehow open up this video track anywhere? I really would like to be able to play this mkv file or convert it, but right now nothing can read the the file because of that realvideo video track. Thanks!

I'm afraid I can't think of anything off-hand but I'm replying so I can bump this topic in case someone who might be able to help misses it. RealShite is truly the bane of the digital video world and I fully support all efforts to banish it!

I must say I've never heard of Real being in an .mkv. New to me...

  4. Not sure but i think you need another filter to parse the "Real" video stream through Directshow.

    You could try this:
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/guliverkli/realmediasplitter_20040125.zip?download

Its from Guliverkli project. From the folks who brought you "Media Player Classic". (And probably the Matroska Splitter your now using)

  5. Hey! Thanks guys! I got the file to play using the realvideo splitter in conjuction with windows media classic (latest one). I just encountered another problem though, but its not related to mkv and realvideo. Again thanks a lot!

  7. Well,I've have the some problem with "mkv", RV40 codec found by "Avicodec". Real media 10 have it, Media Player Classic managed to play the file(after installing the Real Player) and that's it. Problem is I do not figured out how can I change the "mkv" to avi. Decompressor from "avi2vcd" didn't help, I get a file with sound but no video.
    I'm stuck.

  8. Never mind, Tmpgenc accept "mkv" with real player video inside it.So I can transform the "mkv" file straight to VCD or SVCD. Seems that installing Real Player v10 is a must Well..good luck
