If you are talking about compositing computer made clips like graphic art or 3d animation then its pretty easy and effective. For compositing like this I use Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere. You can find plenty of guides for this online.

If you are talking about filming using actual blue and green screens, then the biggest obstacle is actually getting good screens, which can be very expensive especially if you need large ones. I've only done very simple blue/green screen shooting using my wife's sheets. It doesn't work perfectly but you get the general effect. Just make sure you stretch it perfectly tight in all directions. Oh, and it helps if your actor isn't wearing a blue shirt too.

I have been working with FXHome's Chromanator. If you are going to be doing alot of blue/green screen work this will make it MUCH easier. BTW: If you are working with DV video you may want to use 'green' instead of 'blue'. DV video carries more info in the green and can be keyed easier. Of course if you want to key something green you will have to use blue.

I know it works way better than Ulead's built in keying, hands down, no comparison.

Well worth the $93.64 US. to register
