Ok.... after all the hype of this program i thought i must check it out. It sounded too good to be true. And it was![]()
I tested a DVD which was 7.8 gigs. First thing i didnt like about this program was the fact if you want to remove bits from there, e.g. Special features etc.. dont expect it to work in your standalone player. unlike shrink and IC8 you cant compress certain title sets to what u like, it is all automatically done for you. You only have the option of removing them.
I done a full disc backup of the dvd using IC8, Shrink (latest version) and Intervideo DVD copy 2 (platinum version). Speed wise Intervideo comes out top, but id rather have a watchable copy than a crap rushed one.
Below are the results:
1. IC8 - Definatley on top Quality was just superb
2. Shrink - Not too far behind from IC8 with deep analysis
3. DVD Copy 2 By far the Worst.
I found the Intervideo software left huge artifacts during the film. it couldnt even display the production company logo properly. The warning screen had huge artifacts. I also noticed artifacts running throughout the entire movie. It has really put me off the software.
Im going to try and run another test this weekend using another movie. maybe "Matrix Reloaded", and give it a chance to redeem itself.
My two cents worth stick to Instant Copy or Shrink.

You must have done something wrong. It came out on top for me ahead of Recode 2. It did have some small artifacts, but was overall sharper image then Recode 2 @60% level.

Intervideo DVD copy is also in my opinion a huge disappointment. Have compared results of Traffic (~7.5gb) with it, Shrink and CCE. Obviously CCE was top-notch, but Shrink came second (nothing to cheer about though). Intervideo was disastrous
Huge macroblocks and vertical lines...
But if it works for you, congratulations...it didnīt for me...

Intervideo DVD copy 2 Platinum...worst of all the transcoders IMHO.
Last Saturday evening...wanted to backup a 7.41G DVD in which the main movie was 6.91G. first up was IV 2...VIDEO_TS output folder content was only 3.97G. It was not even playable in PowerDVD (though i was able to double-click on one of the produced vob's within the folder and it played in PowerDVD [quality was actually good]. too bad the movie could not play from the beginning). i think i used it correctly. just selected DVD, main movie, and one audio track. pretty much fool-proof. it was fast, though
Next up was DVD2One. Faster than IV2 and excellent video; very, very close to original.
Last up was DVD Shrink 3.0b5. Slow w_DA but excellent results. If i had to choose I would say Shrink's copy was the best by only a hair over DVD2One. -
Thank God I did not pay the 9.95 to upgrade to it . I got it for free :P Clonedvd2 is way better.

There tech support has admitted there are problems with aspects of the new version.Anything but whole disk backup will cause errors. One tech e-mailed me and admitted it didn't work for him either.
Well have to wait until platinum 2 is fixed.bmiller,ont.canada -
