  1. After I've converted my DV AVIs into Mpeg-2 with ProCoder, is there a way I can watch them with sound quickly in PowerDVD without having to multiplex the audio and video together? How long does multiplexing take? I usually just do it when I'm building/authoring the DVD in DVD-Lab. Is there a quick demultiplex? Or software that will playback the M2V file and WAV/AC3 at the same time?

    Thanks,

  3. Hey thanks for the quick reply.
How should I multiplex together then? Can I do it without using DVD-Lab? And would that mean I wouldn't have to do it anymore at the stage when I'm authoring in DVD-Lab?

    Hello,
Your mpeg2 file should play with sound assuming you mixed the audio with already. I don't believe there is a player that will stream both .m2v and .ac3 together.

Tmpgenc dvd author will mix the two together for your dvd in one step. Tmpgenc regular (2.57 or the newest) will do a pretty quick demultiplex of your vob or whatever. The faster your processor the quicker the results. I use a Amd 850mhz and I can demultiplex a 1 gig vob pretty quickly (a few minutes at the very longest).

Dvd authoring should be fast from a dvd compliant mpeg file. If you have motion menus and video backgrounds it will add a lot of processing time. It can take about a half hour to author a dvd mpeg with tda (for a 1 1/2 hour movie). Of course 1ghz and up processors will cut this time down considerably.

Play the video file with Media Player Classic and it will automatically play the audio if you have named it the same name as the video file.
