I've been working with ulead videostudio 8 and find it does everything I need except when I transfer Digital8 (sony cam, firewire) to PC. I get the "audio out of sync" problem about 30 mins into a 1 hour transfer. I know it's not the PC because I've tried the same transfers with some freeware programs (WinDV) and it doesn't go out of sync.
Since it is a data transfer, is there any reason not to use WinDV for transfer and then bring the AVI into videostudio 8 for editing?
Is all digital transfers to AVI the same quality reguardless of what program is used.
What is videostudios problem?
Thanks

If WinDV works without audio sync problems then there is no reason not to use it then import the DV AVI into Ulead VideoStudio.
Just make sure you capture in the correct format ... you can do DV AVI Type 1 or DV AVI Type 2
I don't work much with DV AVI but I think Type 2 is the one you want.

Are you transferring tapes or are you doing pass-through?

Digital 8mm in a Sony digital 8.
I think since 2 programs work and videostudio 8 doesn't, ita software problem. -
There is a studio 8 update/patch on thier website that is supposed to deal with the audio sync problem, mabey give that a try.
