CSS : Confusing as ever...help??

I'm not sure if anyone has time to take a look. I recently installed wordpress to try and get things looking nice but it's not working like the preview...

The way it should look
and the way it looks for me
The logo and home page on the 'the way it should look' go to the same page however, on my page the home goes to one page and the logo goes to the blog page. I don't want the logo being a link to the blog I want it to link to the home. Also, the home page is WITHOUT the rolling pictures. Not sure why.
Second, I don't seem to understand how with each post on 'the way it should look' has a picture embedded with it, but with mine, there is no picture. I would like each pictures added as well, but can't seem to figure that out (When posting).
Furthermore, clicking on BLOG on the 'way it should look' brings you to the blog, with the pictures (That if you also click will bring you to the blog entry). On mine, it just brings you to a place called BLOG...not sure why...
I really wish I knew more. Is this done in CSS through WordPress? What should I be looking for? Where should I really start? I'd like it to work the same way.

You'd have to get into the code to change the link ?page_id=8
Databases are great for huge corporations but slow for small sites.
As far as your pictures go, those are two completely different pages - one with two columns and the other with three. Try clearing your cache and forcing a reload with Ctrl+F5.
I'm sure there's a Wordpress forum...someplace

Not much help on the wordpress forums. Tried contacting the template designer and got nothing.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna have to buy a Dummies book on CSS
