Ok, see if you can help me figure this one out. I know I could probably call Sanyo but I want to see if anyone here can help me.
I have a Compaq desktop computer with a HP DVD+R writer. All the disks that I have purchased have been DVD+R and have had success burning them. I have been using Ulead Video Studio to transfer/edit/burn all my home movies from 8mm tape. I have done 12 so far (as many of you know, it took some wasted DVDs before I got the first one right) and they all play on my Sanyo DVD player. I have not had any problems viewing movies on my player until I made a slideshow using another program. I am trying to find a slideshow software that does it all and I almost found that in ProShow Gold. I made a slideshow (I am using the trial version) and ProShow found my DVD+R writer and made a DVD slideshow. The software said the burn was successful so I then took the DVD to my Sanyo player and... "NO PLAY". WHAT!!! I called ProShow support and they took me to this site. I looked up my player (Sanyo DWM-390) and saw that it only reads DVD-R. Now, I have made 12 home movie transfers to DVD+R and they all have played on that player but now I have run into my first plus/minus issue. Why have I had success viewing DVD+R DVDs on my DVD-R player? Is it the DVD burning software in Ulead?

  2. Read at the bottom when you look up your player, it says "We can Not gurantee that this list is 100% correct and don't forget to read the user comments for more info about each player."
Ok, then we read the user comments and see that user Brad reports it plays both DVD+R and DVD+RW. There is another reason for your player not playing the slideshow, very likely it got nothing to do with + or - disks. But why, that i have no idea, hope someone else have sugestions.

Here is something that I just found out. I am also trying out Ulead DVD PictureShow 2 to create my DVD slideshow. I created a small show and then burned it to a DVD+R disk and then loaded it into my Sanyo (which says it reads DVD-R but all my home movies have played on it) and IT PLAYS! Ok, so go figure this one out...a slideshow created in ProShow Gold (which is a better program - more features) will not play on my stand alone DVD player but the Ulead slideshow program will? I wonder if Ulead has a code it puts on DVDs after you burn them that will allow them to play on any DVD player and that ProShow Gold does not and therefore the disk will not run.
Anyone else out there that can help me on this?
