  1. I hope somebody here can help me. I've read through the forums and seen people with similar problems, but have yet to find a solution.

No matter what format I choose to capture, I lose frames at a rate of 2 frames for every 14 seconds of capture. I'm pretty sure it's an audio synch problem, because if I capture only video, I don't lose any frames.

I'm using VirtualDub 1.4.7, with a Pinnacle Studio PCTV PCI card. For compression I'm using huffyuv. I've tried several different settings for the audio compression, but none make a bit of difference. My CPU is usually around 30% utilization during the capture, so it is not a CPU pegging problem.

This problem started as soon as I switched my OS to Windows 2000. On this same exact machine, using the same software, but with Windows ME, I rarely dropped frames. Maybe 4 frames for every 2 hours of capture. I switched to Windows 2000 because ME was just way too unstable for me.

Does anybody have any ideas for me to try?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Try this Universal BT8xx WDM driver:
    - Download it from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/btwincap/btwdmdrvinstaller4.6.0.zip
NOTE: You can also search for "BT848" in http://sourcefourge.net if you want ot seek for newer releases.
    - Extract it anywhere and run the EXE file. Don't forget to read the README text, because it has lots of useful info.
    - Then when using VirtualDub, you must turn "Preview" mode on, because "Overlay" mode of HiRes frames is not suported by hardware. So it's possible, like in AT AIW to capture both fields of the frame.

NOTE: This driver is a God's Gift and far the best one I've tested. You can even turn FM tuning on using non-FM cards. Besides, it IS really fast.
