  1. For the past couple years I've been trying to convert VHS tapes to DVD. I've tried a lot of different hardware and software to overcome the AV sync issues that it seems most people have. I am currently using the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe 8 hardware. I occasionally use the software for capture as well, but if I don't stop it after about 30 minutes it tends to drift out of sync, even if no frames are dropped.

I was pleased when I got ScenalyzerLive, as it captures perfectly in sync, even when I let it capture for two hours straight. I thought I had finally found the solution to my problems until I ran through the entire video file...after about 20 minutes, I get glitches in the video and audio. About every 30 seconds the video flickers or jumps and the audio pops or squeaks. These glitches are not in the source tape, and proceed fairly regularly through the rest of the video.

I have searched the internet extensively and it seems that no one else has documented this problem with Scenalyzer. I have emailed the developers and they have not gotten back to me. If anyone has any ideas about a possible workaround or some settings in Scenalyzer I should play with, please let me know.

    Some info on my machine:
    Windows XP Pro
    P4 1.6 GHz
    512 MB RAM
40 GB free on HDD, 7200 rpm

  2. I use Scenalyzer extensively. No problems whatsoever. I wonder if the glithes are caused by your VCR or bad cables. If you aren't dropping frames, this has to be the case.

I also use SC-Live every day connected through a Canopus ADVC300 and have never ever had problems with it.
This (and the thread above) are not the answers you are looking for, but at least it does eliminate one small link in your bad chain

  4. The VCR and cables can't be the problem because the exact same setup provides glitch-free results using Pinnacle Studio (aside from the sync problems, of course). I'm not dropping any frames, either.

Thanks for getting back to me, though, and if anyone else has some suggestions or comments, please let me know.
