  1. I own an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AIW and have cable television set up on it. I have video when viewing the channels, but I can't get any sound.
I followed all of the instructions to get audio working. The special cord that comes with the video card with the video out and the line-in for the sound card has been connected. In the ATI tv initialization wizard I have set up the audio as "Line-In". After doing this it still won't work. I know there must be a way to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hardware specs:
    AMD Athlon XP 2800
    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AIW
    SB Audigy
    Logitech Z-5300 5.1 speakers

    Software info:
    Windows XP Pro SP1
    DirectX 9.0b
    ATI MMC 8.7

  2. Do you know how to bring up your master volume control window? If so have you made sure that line in is not muted?

If you go into control panel/sound you can find a checkbox to show the speaker icon next to your clock. I find it helpful to have it there so I always have access to the volume controls.

Also do you have sound in other applications? In other words do you know your speakers work?

How is the TV signal connected to the computer?

The mute has not been checked for Line-In.

I haven't had problems using my speakers for anything else (games, music, dvd's, etc.). I'm positive my speakers are working.

"How is the TV signal connected to the computer?"

    I'm using a coaxial cable.

    Any other ideas?

  4. Verify that the line in is working by plugging an external source like a radio into it. Just go from the headphone jack on the radio to line in and see if you get sound. On my ATI AIW Radeon 7500 the line in is the second jack from the right.

Also keep the volume window up whenever you are trying to test things. I remember a bug where the volume level would go down on it's own for some reason.
