Hi, I hope I'm in the right forum for this, I guess you'll let me know.

As a gift my wife bought me the 25 anniversary, 2 pack edition DVD of Slapshot. We don't have a stand alone DVD player but I do have a DVD player in my computer and TV out with my ATI card. I've used this before to play DVD's on my TV.

The first time I tried to play the DVD using Power DVD (which I usually use) my system, without warning, rebooted. I tried again using Media Player and I got the blue screen of death (running Windows XP). I was reluctant to try a third time.

We also have a Sony Playstation downstairs that the kids use to watch DVD's and it wouldn't play properly on this either.

So my question is what do you think the problem is? I was wondering if it's some sort of copy protection that they built in so that it couldn't be used on a PC? Or possibly the DVD's are defective?

    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

If it doesn't play properly in any player, than the discs could be defective. look and see if there are scratches on the discs, or they could be warped. Most retail outlets will let you return dvds for the same item only, so you could try another copy.
