  1. ever since I installed my new motherboard (asus p4r800-V) and setup the new system, whenever I play xvids, divxs, mpeg videos the system freezes and i need to reboot.
its not the files since it doesnt do it on particular timecodes, its not the players either, since it happens with any of them. I guess it's either the codecs, the graphic card or directx.
sometimes i can play 10, 20 files without it crashing, sometimes it freezes right after the first one. I notice, when i move the players window while playing a xvid, it freezes all the time.
I got winxp pro, 2GB pc3200 ram, 3.2GHz P4, sata drives (connected to an external pci sata controller), use the onboard graphic card from ATI.

anyone any idea on how to crack down on the problem?

check you have the latest drivers for that onboard graphics card.

for a few $ you can stick in a proper graphics card which will probably solve it for you
