  1. I've been having some DVD Rebuilder errors since I decided to start using it. Everytime I try to make a backup with the files I extract from DVDShrink, I get an error. Here is what the error is:

DVD Rebuilder experienced a buffer overflow. Error #0004. Process must abort.

Does anyone have any idea why it does this? I followed afterdawn.com's article and with the setup I got from the article I get the error. I have CCE basic installed with MPEG2Dec3dg.dll in the Rebuilder settings. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Not this one, but I've seen lots of DVD-RB errors. The program is just not that stable yet. So good luck.

The ONLY flawless operation I've seen was for REJIG use.

  3. I get the exact same error as well.
It must be some bug in the program.
When converting two DVDs to one DVD, it happens in the same place every time, which is in the middle of converting the M2V files to a VOB for the second VOB file of the second movie

  4. Hmm, probably something in how you set it up. Your program paths are correct in DVDRebuilder settings? And you've checked the box "Path to MPEG2Dec3DG Add to AVS File"? You've got the DECOMB.dll path correct?

Is your version of AVISynth 2.5.4? If I'm not mistaken it'll automatically create the necessary plugins folder, earlier versions require you to do it manually. It may help to extract MPEG2Dec3 to both your AVISynth Plugins folder and your DVDRebuilder folder.

Finally, you may want to try an earlier version of MPEG2Dec3. I remember reading in a forum (sorry, forget which or when) that some folks had problems that were solved by using MPEG2Dec3 v1.0.0. That fix worked for me, it should still be available, Google for it or if all else fails, I'll email it to you.

You could also try installing and running QuEnc to see if the problem isn't in your CCE settings. Good luck, I think you'll find the effort worthwhile.

P.S. Sorry I can't tell you specifically what that error is you're getting. Yes, this program is very beta, but since I got it running properly, I've had no problems whatsoever.

EDIT: Okay it was in the Doom 9 forum. There's another thread about DVDRebuilder errors right now, Budz posted the link there. I'm betting if you use MPEG2Dec3 v1.0.0 your problems will go away.

  5. For MPEG2Dec v1.00, go to http://ziquash.chez.tiscali.fr/

DVDRebuilder will not work with versions later than v1.02, the current release being v1.10, I think(?). I notice Afterdawn now has v1.00 on offer as well.

It may not be stable for you but it works great for me with no problems.

  7. Rebuilder works great for me as well. Most of the problems arises from not reading the installation procedures correctly. My guess is this #0004 error you're getting is because you haven't correctly configured eclCCE. Older version of CCE, Basic and trial versions require you to set up eclCCE.exe so it points to the CCE executable because those version don't support command line ecl input. So what you have to do is:

    1) download eclCCE.exe
    2) configure eclCCE.exe so it points to your CCE executable
    3) In DVDRebuilder set the "Path To CCE Basic" so it points to the eclCCE.exe 'NOT' the CCE executable

this link will give you more detail setup instructions

I had the same problem with CCE Basic 2.69.1.04. Set it up with CCE 2.5 SP & eclcce. Works great now. Much better than using dvd shrink.

There seems to be some incompatibility with:

    1. Certain versions of CCE.
    2. Certain pre-processed DVD's (i.e. ripped by Shrink, or by older versions of DVD Decrypter).
    3. Certain versions of MPEG2Dec3.

In other words, if you rip it with the latest DVD Decrypter, and use MPEG2Dec3 version 1.0.0, you're pretty much going to be ok. Or, you could try going with a particular SP version of CCE (not an option everyone has due to the $1500 price tag).

IF your RB configuration is correct, the 0004 error is probably an indicator of a problem with the source files, most likely due to the use of a preprocessing program to modify them...Here are some examples of preprocessing programs:

    DVD Stripper
    DVD Remake
DVD Remake Pro (strips angles and unwanted video)
DVDDecryptor (strips angles, audio streams, and subtitle streams)
    DVD Shrink
    IFOEdit (strips lots of stuff)
    DVD-Replica

So check your configuration closely (this is often the culprit), then try to rerun your preprocessing job on the original source and see if the problem still exits. I have never had this problem w/RB.

  11. Try to be as raw as you can with the DVD data. The only stuff I ever let shrink touch is the menus before I go into RB - haven't had a single issue yet.

    The program is plenty stable.

You can't, it's full rez or half D1, that's it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. As Archaeo advised, check your configuration closely. (Also, it should be obvious, but we're talking DVD source only. DVDRebuilder, like it says). Maybe your source file is corrupted somehow?

  14. Sorry, I was not all that clear in my last post,
I only started getting the resolution error after installing version 1.0 of MPEG2Dec3 which I got off of http://ziquash.chez.tiscali.fr/ which was linked to earlier in this post.
I never got the resolution error with the version provided by the doom9.org guide!!
I will try with original source files and see how I get on.
