For some reason my pioneer 106d is burning at 1x only. The burner is capable of burning at 4x. It keeps telling me that it cant find my usb 2.0 so it works at usb 1.1 speed. All of my other usb 2.0 devices work. I went into the store were i bought the laptop and the guy told me to update my win xp to with the sp1 edition because i didnt have the drivers for the usb 2.0 and it still didnt work. If anyone has a clue whats wrong -please e-mail me at lilrob101@yahoo.com. Please HELP!!!

Do you have service pack 1 installed ? USB 2.0 will not work without it.

Or the port you have the writer plugged into is a USB1.1 port. Some laptops (including mine) have USB1.1 ports as well as the newer USB2.0 ports without any marking to differentiate between them. Try plugging the writer into a port you know to function with a USB2.0 device and see what happens.
Good luck,
