  1. I have been using DVD Shrink for the longest time, but recently after reading the comparison report decided to give InterVideo a try. I do agree it's faster than Shrink, but I noticed there are noticeable artifacts appearing through the movie. At first, I thought this was an isolated incident, and so I continued using InterVideo. After backing up a few movies now, I noticed artifacts appear here and there. The movie is still watchable, but wait a disappointment. I think I will go back to Shrink. I don't care about how long it takes, I want the best possible DVD9 to DVD5 (within reasons). Of course, it needs to be easy to use.

Anyone experienced the artifacts? Comments pls. Can someone please challenge the study published? Don't spend the $80 like I did, InterVideo is a total ripoff.

  2. I also read that review of intervideo so I download the trial of ver 2 the first disc I backed up was a real test the superbit fifth element and it worked wonderfully very fast and quality was incredible. The next disc I tried was one I had already backed up with shrink and when I compared the results the intervideo was sharper and had better contrast I was beginning to be sold on intervideo but than as I was watching the second disc I noticed the video would freeze up randomly but otherwise looked great. So I gave it one more try with Sarah McLachlan VH1 storytellers concert DVD and the results were unwatchable huge artifacts freezing just awful. Thinking it might have been a bad disc (Maxell never had a problem before) I tried it once more with the same DVD but backed up to my HD and the results were the same with power DVD. So my conclusion is with some discs you may get wonderful results other will be awful. If they get the bugs out intervideo might have a great program but right now I don’t trust it and I’m sticking with shrink.

I left version 1.2b installed and installed version 2.0

I had a hard time believing it but I too am getting artifacts too.

I converted a movie I put together with TMPGEnc DVD Author and then used Version 2 ... thinking it would be as good as if I used version 1.2b.

Oh man ... my mistake was I deleted the two avi files that I converted to a Mpg-2 video and when I saw all the artifacts flickering and flashing by I thought it was a fluke too.

I processed another movie for testing purposes and saw the pixels and artifacts again.

I will not be using version 2.0 to process any more of my DVD projects.

I agree with you that InterVideo is just too unpredictable to use for now. The "quality" is wonderful when it does work. I'm looking into using DVD-Builder with CCE. Hope Builder is as reliable as Shrink...wish one day, some software will have InterVideo's speed, CCE's quality, and Shrink's reliability/interface...

  5. Ialso tried the demo of InterVideo DVD Copy. I did two DVDs and the picture quality was great (a bit better than an Instant Copy one I did at the same time), but there was a major problem with numerous picture freezes, which is a real shame, because otherwise for speed and quality I would have given it very high marks.

  6. used InterVideo DVD Copy Platinum 2 to backup a dvd...will not be using it again. result files totaled only 3.91G (it was set for max 4.7) and was not even playable in PowerDVD (from the menu on). but if i double-clicked on one of the vobs in Explorer it played in PowerDVD, and quality was very good.
i wonder if v1.2 was more stable? certainly v2.0 has bugs.

Were you using Version2 all the testing was done on the 1.2 version which is the one i've used on over 500+ movies with no problems what so ever pixelation or artifacting.Ive done real big movies up into the 8 gig plus range.

The 1.2 version is the best no bugs like the second version picture quality 100%.

My addon ... InterVideo DVDCopy 1.2b ... works very good.

Using the advanced options ... If you take the check marks off the other titles and leave just the movie ... checked .... the menu will still be there ... to click "Play" ... I like that especially if I put the DVD disk in and walk away ... at least it wont be playing while I am grabbing the popcorn.

Sometime around June 15th ... I downloaded the latest version of Intervideo DVD Copy ... DVDCopy 2.0.2.9, 19219 ... it does still have bugs and artifacts in the end result backup copy. I dont use it ... but do use version 1.2b
