Anybody have any input on GO VIDEO's DVD+VCRs using YESDVD technology to auto create dvds? was in 12/8/04 Wall street journal, further research shows YESDVD on web but only as a Service (similar to http://www.mediachips.com ) looking for any input on this unit.
thanks

I would really like to see such a system which can "author" DVD's and as far as I knew authoring meant more than just recording programs from TV or playing it on VCR and then recording or converting them to DVD.
I think it is just a misunderstanding -
this unit uses YesDVD technology to author a "hollywood style" dvd. it just not just put on disc for playback. it looks quite interesting.
so interesting, i ordered one and will report finds later this week -
Hey man
I will have my eyes locked on this thread. Do send in links and info. -
ok got the box and ran a test on it.
did the typical thing a "newbie" consumer would do plug it in put in the dvd rw that came with it and pop in a vcr tape of my old home movies ok you magic box do your thing (please note i did this this way for a reason as opposed to reading all the directions , which i have and changing options on it) so for the straight record here is what i got
1. 2 hrs 10 mins of video that was on a vhs tape that was get this 14 years old.
2. there is something that "auto enhances" the images, hard to tell if it worked or not.
3. the video/audio is as good as the video tape which is very good by video tape standards.
4. it also created 3 music videos on its own using 3 different types of music and thumbnail captures from the tape.
5. it has a simple dvd menu that has scene selection and snapshots.
6. it prints a dvd insert cover with about 28 thumbnails front and back (thus 56) from your own video which allows you to indentify whats on the dic.
my i intention is to do a simple transfer of home movies to disc without "adding music/editing" ect that i normally do for fun. in other words i just want digital copies of what i have to that extent this unit after only one test has hit every mark i set for it.
It writes to dvd +rw and +rs it can do much more that what i just tested (like recording tv shows to dvd) it can do straight copies from vhs (not macrovision though) or from DIGITAL camcorders via 1394 port or RCA jacks for older camcorders.
i will be studing the manual more closesly and tweaking it along the way bur for now i say money WELL SPENT.
More over i would do business again with B/H photo whom i purhcased it with. delivered as promised when promised for the $$ promised. i have seen these units go for 700 on ebay (its the yesdvd technology) its only on one unit the GO VIDEO 2940.
good luck

Sounds like a treat to me. Good going. I think I would like to test this as soon as I can and as soon as I have set aside a budget for it then I will buy one too.
Thanks for the info sharing!
