    I am trying to take a few of my daughter's childrens DVDs and put them on one disc however I'm having alot of problems converting the VOBs into MPEG2.
    I have tried TMPGEnc Plus and demux then multiplexed back to MPEG2 but the MPEGs do not play back fully or correctly. I have also tried XMPEG to conver the VOBs to MPEG2 however the video results are in black and white and highly scrambled. I have also tried VOBEdit and VOBrator and still have not met with any success.

    Can someone please give me an idea on what software/techniquies where I can properly convers VOB audio/video streams to a working MPEG2 format

    Thanks

  2. I'm a little confused. If you are just trying to back up the DVD, then there is really no need to demux the VOB. You can use DVDDecrypter, Smartripper or DVDShrink to process and backup the DVD.

    Unless you're trying to do something special, it seems like you are making things hard on yourself for no reason. All the programs mentioned above are free, so download them and see if they do what you need.

  3. I agree you shouldnt need to dedmux them. But if you insist on it, VOBEdit would let you demux the m2v and audio, weather it be mp2 or ac3 or pcm etc.

    Also theres a guide on this site, I think under IFOEdit, about making a DVD of movie trailers that are multiple VOBs.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

    DVDDecryptor can strip out streams (M2V and AC3) that you can re-author.

    Or, DVDShrink can work from VOBS, just open a file/disk, then drag the desired title over to a re-author window....very fast when working on ripped files. Output is VOB/IFO/BUB ready to burn. Works great on cartoons...

  5. why can't you use Smartripper to extract as a vob and then you can simply rename the .vob extention to .mpg. it works for me!

    The only program I know that will accept a vob and give you an mpeg is Womble Mpeg Video Wizard.
