Whenever ive used Super to convert an xvid AVI to MPEG2, when importing into DVD architect it always says the video needs to be recompressed and so far I have been going XVID AVI - SUPER MPEG2 - VEGAS MPEG2 - DVD ARCHITECT.
I would like to cut out the unecessary conversion I have to do with VEGAS as I dont get why the SUPER MPEG2 isnt accepted.
I tried it with the latest version of super along with the previous version and it still happens.
Does anyone else have trouble getting SUPER MPEG2 files to be DVD compliant using DVD ARCHITECT 2.0?
Ive tried different bitrates but cant seem to solve it....

Same products here , except ifoedit bellies up with mpeg2 generated by super ... have not seen what vegas or dvdarchitect might say ... its on the other pc ... check it tonight .
Last time I got super to output vobs they wouldnt work , but mpeg2 did .
Must have broken it again .
Re-encoding the mpeg2 works ok , but it is a pain and something to avoid .
----
Have you applied the latest updates for vegas and dvdarchitect . -
Well , back after looking at dvdarchitect on the main pc , and it had no problems taking the mpeg from super build 19 (04:26:2006).
Ok , whats the smart butt hole idea ... no m2v import ... when it took the ac3 without problem .
I have a mind to take it back and shove it up the salsefolk , as it can NOT perform the task it was intended / purchased for , from source files other authoring products will accept ... Now thats just plain bent in my books. -
Havent had a chance to check some things yet but what bitrate did you use BJs?
-
I left super defaults alone for it when it came down to bitrate for video ... although some programs have funny ideas as remembering the last known setting used ... which super has done before .
Super default video bitrate was set at 5760 when file was encoded ... stupid thing , thats the original default when it installed for some reason .
Normally :
6000 when using other encoders for full d1 (pal 720x576)
1/4 d1 to mpeg2 at 2500 or
Vcd rated spec which is around 1100 (1/4 d1 = 352x288pal).
When encoding with bbmpeg , it can be a varied kbps if the quant is active with a set value (default is 4) , unless one tells it to use a specified bitrate .
Occasionally I have encoded mpeg2 full d1 down to as low as 3000 , which isnt to bad (via bbmpeg or quenc) , but do not go below this point as pixelization artifacts become quite noticable . -
You know I never noticed that I could pick different encoders, I just left it on whatever is default and just changed my output and bitrates.
Will try different encoders.
